Applications Invited for Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), established under the ANRF Act 2023, is a government initiative aimed at fostering a strong culture of research and innovation across India. Guided by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, ANRF works to enhance the country’s scientific ecosystem by supporting groundbreaking research, innovation, and collaboration. The foundation prioritizes the development of a vibrant research environment by empowering young scientists, easing research procedures, and funding high-quality projects. ANRF’s initiatives are designed to elevate India’s global position in science and technology, nurturing early career researchers who contribute fresh ideas, interdisciplinary approaches, and impactful discoveries. Through the Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant, ANRF provides the resources and flexibility required for emerging scientists to initiate independent research and establish themselves as leaders in their respective fields.

The Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant (PM ECRG) offers up to INR 60 lakh (plus overheads) for a three-year period to support new researchers in establishing their independent research careers. The grant provides flexibility in resource utilization, recruitment, and expenditures, including travel, contingency, open access publications, and patent filing costs. It also allows international travel for research-related activities. The programme aims to award up to 700 grants annually across all scientific disciplines. Designed to promote ease of research and innovation, the PM ECRG empowers early career researchers to explore new ideas, build collaborations, and contribute to national scientific advancement. ANRF’s flexible funding framework ensures that recipients can effectively execute their research with autonomy while maintaining accountability through performance-based outcomes and measurable scientific impact.
