About Organisation

PFAN is a global network of climate and clean energy finance experts working to accelerate investment-ready projects in developing and emerging markets. By combining local market knowledge with international financial expertise, PFAN supports entrepreneurs through tailored mentoring, investment readiness coaching, and strategic advisory services. Its mission is to mitigate climate change, advance the Paris Agreement, and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals by building clean energy markets one project at a time. PFAN focuses on helping viable climate solutions overcome financing barriers and achieve scale.

About the Grant

The PFAN Project Grant supports clean energy and climate adaptation projects that are commercially and technically viable but require catalytic support to unlock private investment. Rather than traditional grant-making, PFAN focuses on preparing projects for large-scale financing through expert advisory support. Eligible projects must deliver climate mitigation or adaptation benefits and operate within PFAN’s clean energy and climate technology sectors. Funding requests typically range from USD 1 million to USD 50 million, with special consideration for energy access and rural electrification projects. The grant aims to bridge the gap between project development and market deployment.

Who can Apply?

Applications are open to clean energy and climate-focused projects or businesses operating in low- and middle-income countries across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific. Eligible applicants must demonstrate commercial and technical viability and seek investment within PFAN’s funding thresholds. Projects may include renewable energy generation, energy access solutions, climate technologies, and scale-up ventures. PFAN is technology-neutral but excludes nuclear power, fossil fuel combustion, waste incineration, and environmentally or socially harmful activities. Projects must comply with environmental, labour, and social safeguards and avoid involuntary resettlement or child labour.

How to Apply?

Applicants are required to submit a detailed project proposal outlining the business model, climate impact, technical feasibility, financial requirements, and implementation plan. Submissions are reviewed against PFAN’s eligibility criteria and investment readiness standards. Shortlisted projects are matched with PFAN advisors who provide tailored coaching and support throughout the investment preparation journey, subject to performance milestones and assessment outcomes.

Application Deadline

Applications for the PFAN Project Grant are currently open and must be submitted on or before 15 March 2026 to be considered for this funding cycle.
