About the Grant
The “Make Our Planet Great Again” (MOPGA) Visiting Fellowship Program 2026 is a flagship initiative by the French government aimed at empowering early-career international researchers to contribute to climate and environmental research in France. Funded by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) and implemented by Campus France, the program supports postdoctoral researchers working on topics aligned with the Paris Agreement. Research areas include Earth system sciences, climate change, energy transition, sustainability, societal challenges related to environmental issues, and One Health. Each selected fellow undertakes a 12-month research project in collaboration with French laboratories. Fellows receive a monthly allowance of €2,500, a one-time installation grant of €500, and full health coverage. The program promotes scientific innovation, global collaboration, and knowledge exchange to address pressing environmental and climate challenges.
Who can Apply?
The MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program 2026 welcomes early-career international researchers who wish to conduct a one-year research project in France. Eligible applicants must hold a PhD awarded within the last five years, between December 2020 and December 2025. Candidates must not possess French citizenship and must not have lived in France for more than 90 days between September 12 and December 12, 2025. Applicants should demonstrate expertise and commitment to research in areas such as climate change, environmental science, energy transition, or public health under the One Health framework. A strong academic record, publication history, and collaboration potential with French research institutions are essential. Applications must include a detailed research proposal, CV, PhD certificate, letters of recommendation, and a letter of support from the host laboratory. The fellowship is ideal for emerging researchers seeking to deepen their scientific engagement while contributing to France’s global leadership in environmental and sustainability research.
How to Apply?
Applicants must prepare a research proposal, CV, PhD diploma, advisor’s CV and support letter, up to three recommendations, and proof of ID. The proposal should outline objectives, methodology, and expected impact in English or French. Completed applications are to be submitted online through the Campus France portal before the closing date. Only complete and eligible submissions will be considered for review.
