About Organisation
The Global EbA Fund is a funding mechanism designed to support catalytic, innovative and inclusive approaches to Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). It is co-led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), with support from Germany’s International Climate Initiative. The Fund seeks to overcome barriers that prevent EbA solutions from being scaled by supporting knowledge, policy, finance, partnerships and innovative approaches. Its work connects climate adaptation with biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management and development while placing strong emphasis on vulnerable communities and locally led solutions.
About the Grant
The Global EbA Fund Medium-Size Grants are a new funding window supporting projects that address systemic barriers to scaling Ecosystem-based Adaptation. Grants of up to US$500,000 can support initiatives that strengthen enabling environments, embed EbA within national frameworks and contribute to global learning and policy dialogue. The General Track focuses on Strategic Scaling and Global Influence. Applicants may address innovative finance for EbA, EbA for human development and security, or stronger links between climate, biodiversity and land agendas. These themes are encouraged but are not mandatory.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants include NGOs, INGOs, intergovernmental organisations, community-based organisations, Indigenous Peoples’ organisations, universities, research institutions, think tanks, private-sector organisations under specified conditions, and consortia. Applicants must be legally recognised entities with relevant experience. Projects must qualify as Ecosystem-based Adaptation, demonstrate catalytic and innovative potential, identify the climate impacts addressed and build on existing work rather than functioning solely as standalone field implementation. Projects must target ODA-eligible countries where applicable, partner with local organisations and demonstrate sustainability beyond the funding period. Individuals and IUCN/UNEP offices are not eligible.
How to Apply?
Applicants should prepare the required application package, including the Applicant Declaration, Co-applicant Mandate where applicable, Medium-Size Grants Application Form, Project Proposal Budget Template, and Due Diligence and Financial Capacity Questionnaire. Applications must be submitted in English through the online platform. The submission portal will become available from 12 October 2026 on the official Medium-Size Grants webpage. Applicants are encouraged to prepare their application offline before submitting it online.
