About the Grant

The Leadership in Mental Health Programme (LMHP) is a specialised fellowship under the Government of Punjab’s Yudh Nashean Virudh initiative to combat substance use and addiction. Anchored by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Medical Science (AIMS), Mohali, with TISS Mumbai as the knowledge and training partner, the programme aims to build a dedicated cadre of mental health professionals. Fellows will lead district-level implementation, institutionalise public mental health frameworks, and embed patient-centred, evidence-based practices within the state’s drug de-addiction systems, contributing to a stronger and more responsive public healthcare framework.

Who can Apply?

The fellowship is open to highly motivated mental health professionals committed to strengthening public health systems in Punjab. Applicants must hold a postgraduate degree in Psychology or Social Work and possess a minimum of two years of full-time experience in mental health practice. Candidates should be under 32 years of age and demonstrate a strong commitment to public service, addiction-focused mental health care, and evidence-based psychosocial interventions. Ideal applicants are those who can collaborate with district and state-level administrative bodies, contribute to long-term system strengthening, and lead transformative mental health initiatives within the public health and de-addiction ecosystem.
