About Organisation
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is Switzerland’s leading public research funding body, established in 1952 to support high-quality scientific research across all disciplines. Operating under a government mandate, SNSF funds thousands of research projects annually, promoting excellence, innovation, and international collaboration. It evaluates proposals through competitive peer review and supports early-career researchers alongside established scholars. By working closely with universities, research institutions, and global partners, SNSF strengthens Switzerland’s research ecosystem while enabling impactful cross-border scientific cooperation, including long-standing partnerships with Indian research agencies.
About the Grant
The Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme supports collaborative research projects between Swiss and Indian researchers. Launched in early 2026, the programme includes joint calls with Indian partners covering geosciences and natural hazards, social sciences, and an upcoming One Health focus. Selected Joint Research Projects run for three to four years, with costs covered separately by Swiss and Indian funding agencies for researchers in their respective countries. The programme aims to advance high-quality, internationally connected research while addressing shared scientific and societal challenges relevant to both countries.
Who can Apply?
Applications are open to eligible researchers and institutions in Switzerland and India proposing joint research projects. Applicants must form collaborative teams with partners from both countries. Proposals should align with the thematic focus of the respective call, such as geosciences, social sciences, or One Health. Projects must meet duration and budget limits specified under each call. Only research institutions and researchers that fulfil the eligibility criteria set by SNSF and the corresponding Indian funding agency are permitted to apply. High scientific quality and strong collaboration are essential.
How to Apply?
Applicants must prepare a joint research proposal in collaboration with their Swiss and Indian partners. Proposals should follow the guidelines of the specific joint call and be submitted to the relevant funding agencies in both countries within the stated deadline. Each partner submits documentation as required by their national agency, ensuring alignment in project scope, budget, and duration.
Application Deadline
Applications for the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme must be submitted by 08 April 2026, according to the timelines specified for each joint call and partner agency.
