The Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) is a university-wide initiative that fosters collaboration across Harvard and with partners around the world to advance global health equity. HGHI addresses critical global health challenges through interdisciplinary research, education, and innovative partnerships that generate knowledge and promote sustainable change. By engaging scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, HGHI aims to strengthen systems that improve health outcomes and reduce disparities across populations globally.

About the Grant

The Harvard LEAD Fellowship for Promoting Women in Global Health (2026–2027) is a one-year program designed to empower women leaders from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). A collaboration between HGHI and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, it provides a transformative space for professional reflection, skill development, and mentorship. Fellows spend six weeks in residence at Harvard in April 2027, engaging with global experts and advancing leadership in global health equity.

Who can Apply?

  • Hold a master’s degree or higher in a relevant field.

  • Have at least 10 years of professional experience in global health (excluding student work).

  • Work full-time in the global health sector and be based in a low- or middle-income country.

  • Have the support of their employer and a mentor within their organization.

  • Be able to take a leave of absence for the in-residence portion in April 2027.

  • Be eligible for a J-1 visa and reside in Boston, MA during the residency (travel, visa, and housing covered).

  • Commit to returning to their home country post-fellowship to mentor future leaders.
