About the Grant
The Global Schools Prize, worth USD 1 million, honors exceptional schools worldwide that are redefining what education can achieve. Launched in 2025 by philanthropist Sunny Varkey, it complements the Global Teacher Prize and Global Student Prize, forming a trio that celebrates educators, students, and schools. The prize aims to inspire innovation, strengthen global learning ecosystems, and spark a holistic dialogue on the future of education.
Who can Apply?
The prize is open to all government-run and privately funded schools worldwide that teach students up to the age of 18, provided they meet local regulatory requirements. Eligible schools must demonstrate exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality education and may apply across multiple award categories. Applicants will be evaluated against robust judging criteria that assess innovation, demonstrated results, leadership, community impact, and the ability to drive educational transformation. Schools that are implementing forward-thinking models or pioneering new approaches to teaching and learning are particularly encouraged to apply. Both large and small institutions are equally eligible.
How to Apply?
Schools must complete the official application form and provide detailed evidence showcasing their achievements, innovation, and impact. The process involves submitting information on initiatives, measurable results, community engagement, and the school’s overall contribution to advancing education. Applications can be submitted during the open period specified in the announcement, and schools may apply in multiple categories if relevant. All required documents must be included for successful submission.
Application Deadline
Applications are accepted from 10 September 2025, and the final submission deadline is 31 January 2026. Schools must ensure all materials are submitted before the closing date.
