About the Grant

The Arturo Falaschi PhD Fellowship 2026 provides postgraduate research opportunities leading to a PhD in life sciences at ICGEB centres. The fellowship supports talented early-career researchers with hands-on laboratory training, expert supervision, and access to advanced scientific facilities. Fellows may earn their PhD through partner institutions such as The Open University. The programme strengthens scientific capacity by enabling high-quality research and fostering global collaboration. Applicants must develop a research proposal with an ICGEB Group Leader before submitting their application. This fellowship helps build strong scientific careers and contributes to innovative solutions in biotechnology and related fields.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State. Degree requirements vary by centre: Trieste requires a BSc (Honours), while New Delhi and Cape Town require an MSc. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English through a recognized certificate unless their prior education was conducted in English, supported by official documentation. Applicants to Trieste must be below 32 years of age, while no age limit applies for New Delhi and Cape Town. All applicants must contact an ICGEB Group Leader with a motivation letter to confirm lab space and develop a research proposal as part of the application.
