Its work brings together innovators, legal professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, civil society organisations and other changemakers working to improve access to justice and transform justice systems. Through initiatives such as the Agami Prize, the organisation identifies promising ideas and provides visibility, mentorship and connections to help them develop. About the Grant

The Agami Prize 2027 recognises innovative ideas that can transform the field of law and justice in India. The programme is designed for early-stage initiatives developing new approaches to justice, legal processes, participation or access to justice. The prize has a total pool of ₹30 lakh, including ₹5 lakh each for two winning initiatives and additional special cash prizes for promising ideas. Selected participants can also receive tailored mentorship, connections and opportunities to showcase their work nationally. Up to 20 promising ideas are expected to join the 2027 cohort, with finalists presenting to a grand jury before the winners are announced. The selected initiatives will also have an opportunity to showcase their work at Justicemakers Mela 2027 in Bengaluru.

Who can Apply?

The Agami Prize is intended for early-stage initiatives working to transform law and justice in India. The current call seeks initiatives that are under three years old and are developing new approaches to justice. Applicants may apply directly, while individuals can also nominate an eligible idea. The opportunity is suitable for founders, social innovators, lawyers, technologists, students, organisations and other teams working on access to justice, legal technology, justice systems or related innovation. Applications should demonstrate a meaningful idea with potential to contribute to positive change in India’s justice ecosystem. Eligible applicants should submit their ideas through the official Agami Prize application or nomination process before the closing date.

How to Apply?

Applicants can apply directly through the Agami Prize application process, while individuals can nominate an eligible early-stage initiative. The application requires information about the idea, what it is seeking to change and its potential contribution to law and justice in India. Applications are reviewed through subsequent stages, including conversations with the Agami team and evaluation by the Evaluation Council. Shortlisted initiatives progress towards the 2027 cohort and grand jury stage. Applicants should review the current official call carefully before submitting their application.

Applications and nominations for the Agami Prize 2027 close on 30 October 2026. The official timeline states that applications opened on 15 September 2026 and evaluation continues through early 2027.
