About Organisation

The Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS) is housed within the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS). It also partners with the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). ACHS functions as a leading think tank focused on protecting Asia from biological threats by enhancing preparedness, fostering strategic partnerships, and supporting research-driven policy development.

The Centre is committed to building a resilient and unified Asia capable of tackling future health security challenges. By bringing together academic institutions, government bodies, and other like-minded organisations, ACHS creates a robust knowledge-sharing ecosystem to promote effective biosecurity practices.

Its initiatives emphasize the importance of scientific evidence, leadership development, and collaborative research. Through educational programs, policy dialogues, and regional outreach, ACHS aims to strengthen Asia’s capacity to prevent and respond to catastrophic biological events. Ultimately, ACHS envisions a secure future where generations are protected against biosecurity threats through informed governance and shared responsibility.

About the Grant

The ACHS Fellowship Program, launched in 2025, is a prestigious and competitive initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of leaders in biosecurity. Offered by the Asia Centre for Health Security, the 12-month, part-time fellowship is designed to complement full-time employment or academic commitments.

Participants will enhance their understanding of biosafety and biosecurity through access to expert mentorship, project opportunities, and thematic workshops. Fellows will also gain access to key webinars, networking sessions, and major events hosted both in Singapore and internationally, such as those by Global Health Security (GHS), Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), and the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC).

The program includes a funded visit to Singapore, covering travel, accommodation, and daily allowances, where fellows will engage with partner institutions like the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA), and NUS and NTU. Another international event will be sponsored as part of the fellowship year.

By the end of the program, fellows are expected to complete a project that contributes to the field of biosecurity. This grant provides a unique opportunity to expand knowledge, build networks, and develop leadership capacity for addressing global biological risks.
