About the Grant

The People-First AI Fund is a $50 million initiative launched by OpenAI to empower nonprofits and mission-driven organizations at the intersection of AI innovation and public good. This program is designed to ensure that communities most impacted by social challenges actively shape how AI is developed and deployed. The fund focuses on three key areas: AI literacy & public understanding, community innovation, and economic opportunity.

It prioritizes organizations working with underserved communities—such as older adults, rural areas, and linguistically isolated groups—by supporting projects that build knowledge, improve access to services, expand economic opportunities, and strengthen civic trust. Organizations at any stage of AI adoption, from exploration to deployment, are encouraged to apply.
