About Organisation

The Center for Lifelong Learning, part of the School of Social Work at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is dedicated to promoting continuous professional development, social inclusion, and the overall well-being of individuals and communities. As a leading institution, TISS seeks to enhance the knowledge and skills of educators, social workers, and community leaders through specialized training programs. Its initiatives aim to create positive change, focusing on mental health, social-emotional learning, and other critical social issues.

About the Grant

The UMANG Fellowship, an initiative by TISS, offers a unique opportunity for school teachers to enhance their skills in social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health. The fellowship is designed to support teachers in creating joyful, nurturing classrooms that promote emotional safety and well-being for both educators and students. It includes a hybrid training program—comprising in-person and online sessions—and provides personalized mentorship for teachers to implement SEL projects in their classrooms. The program is free of cost, funded by the Flourishing Minds Fund, USA, and aims to transform school environments by equipping teachers with the tools necessary to foster emotional safety and well-being.

Who can Apply?

The UMANG Fellowship is open to teachers who are passionate about incorporating social-emotional learning and mental health practices into their teaching.
