By focusing on long-term impact, it plays a key role in advancing global mental health equity and empowering youth-focused initiatives worldwide.
About the Grant
The Rare Impact Fund Youth Mental Health Grant is designed to strengthen the global youth mental health workforce, particularly nonclinical providers. This initiative supports nonprofits working on training, recruitment, retention, and career development within the sector. Unlike short-term funding, it emphasizes sustainable impact through multi-year support and capacity building. The program prioritizes school-based interventions, community networks, and crisis response systems. With a total funding pool exceeding $2.5 million, the grant aims to professionalize nonclinical mental health roles. Selected organizations also gain access to a global network, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and long-term growth in youth mental health services.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants for the Rare Impact Fund Youth Mental Health Grant include registered nonprofit organizations or international equivalents. Applicants must operate within the United States and remain independent of political affiliations. Organizations should demonstrate a strong focus on youth mental health and experience supporting nonclinical providers. Only one application per organization is permitted. Preference is given to nonprofits that are not current Rare Impact Fund partners, ensuring broader inclusion. Applicants must also incorporate equity-driven approaches and actively engage youth voices in program design. Strong proposals will highlight measurable impact, sustainability, and alignment with global mental health priorities.
How to Apply?
The application process consists of two stages. First, applicants must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) outlining their mission, experience, and proposed project. Based on this, selected organizations are invited to submit a full proposal with detailed program plans and budgets. Applications are reviewed by an expert advisory board, and final selections are made after due diligence and compliance checks.
