About the Grant

This call for proposals focuses on harnessing the untapped potential of mushrooms native to India’s North Eastern Region (NER). The grant aims to support innovative R&D initiatives that enhance mushroom cultivation, develop value-added products, and promote sustainable livelihoods. Emphasis is placed on advanced cultivation techniques, spawn development, nutraceutical and therapeutic applications, and post-harvest value addition. The programme seeks to transform Northeastern mushrooms into drivers of scientific innovation, economic empowerment, and regional development, contributing to rural income generation, agricultural diversification, and global recognition of NER biodiversity.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants include scientists and researchers holding regular positions in recognised research institutions, government colleges, academic institutions, or universities. Applicants from outside the North Eastern Region may apply only in collaboration with NER-based scientists, who must serve as the main Principal Investigators. Researchers must possess relevant experience in the proposed area of study, supported by high-quality publications in SCI-indexed journals. Proposals should align with the identified thematic areas and demonstrate scientific merit, feasibility, and potential socio-economic impact within the North Eastern Region.
