About Organisation
The World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s leading humanitarian organization fighting hunger globally, works to ensure that every person has access to the food they need for a healthy and active life. Operating across more than 120 countries, WFP provides life-saving food assistance during emergencies while supporting long-term solutions that promote food security, nutrition, and resilience. In Chad, WFP continues to respond to crises caused by conflict, climate shocks, and displacement, focusing on the most vulnerable populations. Its programs address immediate nutritional needs while fostering sustainable livelihoods through agricultural development and education initiatives. Through partnerships with governments, civil society, and local communities, WFP ensures that humanitarian assistance is effectively targeted and that support transitions into empowerment. The organization’s work in the Wadi Fira Region aligns with its global mandate to end hunger (SDG 2) and enhance resilience in crisis-affected areas.
About the Grant
The Food and Nutritional Assistance Program for People Affected by Crises in Wadi Fira Region, Chad (Lot 5) is an initiative by WFP aimed at addressing severe food insecurity and malnutrition in the region. The project focuses on people facing displacement, limited livelihood opportunities, and chronic undernutrition. By adopting a vulnerability-based approach, the program differentiates between “extremely vulnerable” and “very vulnerable” households to tailor assistance accordingly. Extremely vulnerable households will receive monthly unconditional food assistance through either food distribution or cash transfers, depending on local market conditions. Meanwhile, very vulnerable households will benefit from quarterly social transfers to ensure sustained access to essential food supplies.
Additionally, the program emphasizes nutrition support for children (6–23 months) and pregnant and breastfeeding women, providing nutritional supplements and education on feeding practices, hygiene, and disease prevention. Alongside immediate aid, WFP incorporates livelihood and resilience-building measures to help communities rebuild their independence and economic stability over time.

Eligible applicants include registered NGOs and nonprofit organizations with proven experience in humanitarian response, food security, nutrition, or livelihood support within crisis-affected contexts.
