About Organisation

Campus France is a national agency under the French government responsible for promoting French higher education and research globally. It facilitates the international mobility of students, researchers, and academics, helping them access programs, scholarships, and collaborative opportunities in France. Campus France plays a crucial role in strengthening global academic relations by providing comprehensive support throughout the study or research journey — from program selection and application assistance to visa guidance and cultural orientation. The agency also acts as a bridge between French institutions and international partners, fostering scientific exchange and innovation. Through initiatives such as the MOPGA (Make Our Planet Great Again) program, Campus France reaffirms France’s leadership in sustainability, climate action, and global scientific cooperation. By connecting talented individuals worldwide with French universities and research institutions, Campus France promotes shared solutions to global challenges while supporting international researchers’ academic and professional growth.

About the Grant

The MOPGA 2026 Visiting Fellowship Program invites early career international researchers to undertake a 12-month research stay in France, focusing on climate change, environmental sustainability, and energy transition. Funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) and implemented by Campus France, the program aligns with France’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. Research areas include Earth system sciences, sustainability and climate studies, energy transition, societal challenges, and One Health approaches linking human, animal, and environmental health. Selected fellows receive a monthly allowance of €2,500, a one-time installation grant of €500, and comprehensive health insurance. Host institutions in France provide the necessary research environment and mentorship but do not receive direct funding. This initiative aims to foster global research collaboration, strengthen the scientific response to environmental challenges, and build long-term partnerships between France and international researchers dedicated to sustainable development.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must be early career researchers who have earned a PhD within the last five years (between December 2020 and December 2025). Only non-French citizens are eligible, and applicants must not have resided in France for more than 90 days between September 12 and December 12, 2025. The program seeks candidates with demonstrated research excellence and a strong commitment to addressing environmental and climate-related challenges. Eligible applicants may come from diverse scientific fields connected to sustainability, climate change, and energy innovation.
Applications must include the following documents:

  • A CV (maximum 4 pages) with a list of publications.

  • PhD diploma or certificate of completion.

  • CV of the French host laboratory’s scientific advisor (max 2 pages).

  • A letter of support from the scientific advisor, co-signed by the lab director or accompanied by a letter confirming institutional commitment.

  • Up to three recommendation letters and a valid passport or proof of ID.
Host institutions must provide a suitable research environment aligned with the fellow’s project goals. The fellowship exclusively funds the researcher’s living expenses and does not allocate resources to the host laboratory.

How to Apply?

Applicants must submit their research proposal and required documents online via the Campus France application portal. Before applying, they should identify and confirm a host laboratory in France willing to support their project. The application must include all specified documents, letters, and certifications. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Final selections are made based on research merit, project relevance, and host institution suitability.

Application Deadline

The application window closes on 12 December 2025. All supporting documents and project proposals must be submitted online through the Campus France portal before the deadline to ensure eligibility.
