About the Grant
The IndiaAI FutureSkills Fellowship is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. This program offers fellowship opportunities to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from recognized institutes who are actively working on AI/ML-related projects. The initiative aims to nurture the next generation of AI professionals by providing them with the necessary training, resources, and mentorship to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. The fellowship is part of MeitY’s broader goal to create a highly skilled workforce capable of driving AI innovations in India. In addition to the core fellowship benefits, students who have papers accepted at international AI conferences with an h5 rating greater than 100 are eligible for one-time funding support of up to INR 1,00,000 to assist with travel and accommodation expenses. The fellowship emphasizes rigorous academic performance, practical research experience, and innovation. By supporting students at various academic levels, the program fosters an ecosystem where creativity, research, and industry relevance converge, helping to position India as a global leader in AI technologies.
Who can Apply?
The fellowship is open to students at various academic levels who meet specific criteria. Undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD students from recognized institutes across India are eligible to apply. UG applicants in their final year must have completed at least three AI-related courses and secured a minimum of 80% marks or equivalent until the last semester. PG students in their 1st to 3rd semester must have achieved at least 80% in their undergraduate studies and 75% or above in their current postgraduate program if applying in later semesters. PhD candidates enrolled full-time in AI-related programs at IndiaAI partner institutions are also eligible, provided they meet CGPA/CPI requirements and are not receiving fellowships from other sources. The fellowship prioritizes candidates with a strong academic record, a passion for AI research, and a demonstrated commitment to solving real-world problems. Students actively engaged in AI/ML projects and those who have had their work recognized at international conferences stand a better chance of selection. This inclusive structure encourages participation from diverse academic backgrounds and aims to build a robust, future-ready AI workforce aligned with the evolving technology landscape.
