Shell E4 is Shell’s flagship startup accelerator program, designed to support and scale high-potential startups innovating in the energy transition and sustainability space. About the Grant
The Shell E4 Energy Transition Track is an opportunity for startups innovating in clean energy, sustainability, and technology to gain support through mentoring, funding access, industry connections, and pilot opportunities. This initiative, powered by Shell Ventures and backed by program partners like NASSCOM COE for IoT & AI, aims to accelerate scalable solutions that can drive real change in the global energy landscape. Startups selected for this track will receive strategic support to develop their products and expand market reach while contributing to decarbonization and sustainable energy goals. The program focuses on innovations that address pressing energy-related challenges and is open to early and growth-stage startups across sectors including cleantech, mobility, renewable energy, AI-enabled energy solutions, and more. Participants will benefit from Shell’s global ecosystem and collaborative approach to innovation. The program seeks ventures with a clear business model, committed teams, and demonstrated traction or pilot-ready prototypes. Selected startups will also gain access to investor networks, potential customers, and industry mentors through the E4 platform.
Who can Apply?
The Shell E4 Energy Transition Track welcomes early to mid-stage startups actively working on innovative solutions in sectors like clean energy, renewable technology, sustainable mobility, energy storage, AI-powered energy management, and IoT-enabled systems. Eligible companies must have a defined product or technology that addresses critical energy or environmental challenges. Startups should be legally incorporated, with a clearly identified team of founders and at least one full-time employee. Ventures should have a prototype, MVP, or commercially ready solution and must not be in a conceptual or ideation phase. Prior applicants to the E4 program are welcome to reapply if their solution has evolved. The program is open to startups incorporated in any country, with operations in or targeting the Indian or global markets. Founders should demonstrate full-time commitment and a roadmap to scale. Ideal applicants will have measurable traction such as paid pilots, revenue, or partnerships, along with a scalable go-to-market plan. Startups aiming to achieve environmental impact and contribute to the global energy transition are especially encouraged to apply.
How to Apply?
Interested startups can fill out the detailed online application form by providing company, team, product, market, and financial details. The form also requires uploading a non-confidential pitch deck and outlining the support expected from Shell E4. The application covers traction, differentiation, and fundraising needs, and seeks clarity on long-term scalability and market impact.
