About the Grant

The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), in collaboration with Amrita TBI, offers financial support to early-stage startups to help them transform ideas into functional products or services. The grant focuses on critical early stages such as proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market validation, and entry. The funding is designed to catalyze business development, giving startups the much-needed push for commercialization and scaling. Startups selected through Amrita TBI can access up to ₹20 lakhs for initial product development and an additional ₹50 lakhs as investment for further growth. This scheme is a strategic initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to boost innovation and entrepreneurial activity across sectors, particularly those that contribute to solving societal challenges. The grant aims to support sustainable and scalable models with technological innovation at their core.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be DPIIT-recognized startups incorporated within the last two years at the time of application. The startup should be working on a product or service with potential for commercialization, scalability, and a strong market fit, involving a technological element in the core offering or business process. The total government financial assistance previously received by the startup should not exceed ₹10 lakhs, excluding benefits like prize money, lab access, or subsidized workspace. Indian promoters must hold at least 51% equity in the company, as per Indian legal regulations. Each startup is eligible to receive funding support under the SISFS only once.
