About Organisation
The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, in collaboration with the Technology Development Board (TDB), supports innovative and technology-driven initiatives across various industries. DST aims to foster research, development, and commercialization of cutting-edge technologies by providing financial and strategic assistance. The Technology Development Board (TDB), under DST, plays a crucial role in funding industrial projects that focus on innovation, economic competitiveness, and sustainability.
On the other hand, the Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI) in Spain is dedicated to promoting technological advancements and industrial research. CDTI provides financial support to Spanish enterprises engaging in R&D collaborations that contribute to economic and technological growth.
The India-Spain Industrial Research and Development Programme, jointly managed by DST-TDB and CDTI, facilitates cross-border cooperation, enabling businesses from both nations to co-develop and commercialize innovative products, processes, and services. This initiative aims to strengthen industrial partnerships, foster global technological collaboration, and enhance market-driven research in key sectors.
About the Grant
The DST-TDB & CDTI grant is part of the India-Spain Programme of Cooperation on Industrial Research and Development. It aims to support joint R&D projects between Indian and Spanish industries, fostering innovation and technological advancement. The focus is on industry-driven projects that lead to market-oriented solutions through mutual collaboration. Eligible projects must demonstrate significant technological intervention and innovation, contributing to economic and industrial growth in both countries.
Key priority areas include circular economy and sustainability, digital transformation (e.g., smart mobility, smart grids, smart cities), digital health and medical devices, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials. The project must be civilian in nature, bring mutual benefits to participating companies, and be commercializable. Selected participants will receive funding through TDB in India and CDTI in Spain to support project execution over a duration of up to two years.
Who can Apply?
The grant is open to industrial R&D collaborations between Indian and Spanish companies, including start-ups, SMEs, and large enterprises. To be eligible:
- The project must involve at least one company from India and one from Spain, with a well-balanced partnership.
- The companies must be legally registered and headquartered in their respective countries.
- The project should focus on developing or substantially improving a product, process, or service with clear technological innovation.
- It must demonstrate strong collaboration, including knowledge exchange, shared infrastructure, or commercial benefits.
- The outcome must be market-oriented and lead to commercialization.
- The project should align with one of the key priority sectors outlined in the call.
Academic and research institutions may participate as partners but cannot be primary applicants.
How to Apply?
Eligible applicants must prepare a joint proposal outlining the project’s objectives, technological innovation, market potential, and collaboration details. Applications should be submitted through the designated portals of DST-TDB (India) and CDTI (Spain), ensuring compliance with all documentation and guidelines.
Application Deadline
The application submission period is open until 20th May 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.

Grant Amount
Funding will be provided through TDB in India and CDTI in Spain based on joint recommendations. The financial support covers R&D expenses essential for project execution.
