The SBI Foundation is a prominent CSR initiative of the State Bank of India, dedicated to advancing sustainable development in India. Among its key focus areas is wildlife conservation, recognizing the importance of preserving biodiversity for ecological balance. Through its flagship program, SBIF CONSERW, the Foundation supports initiatives that address pressing challenges in wildlife conservation, including species preservation, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and infrastructure development. The Foundation collaborates with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to foster impactful, science-driven projects aimed at creating long-term ecological and societal benefits.
About the Grant
The Wildlife Conservation Program by the SBI Foundation seeks proposals to address critical challenges in biodiversity conservation across India. Key thematic areas include endangered species conservation, providing infrastructural support for conservation activities, and mitigating human-wildlife conflict through comprehensive science-based solutions. Funding support ranges from ₹1.00 Cr to ₹5.00 Cr per project, with a support duration of 2–3 years. Proposals are expected to focus on innovative, impactful, and sustainable conservation practices aligned with national and international priorities, such as the IUCN Red List and India’s Wildlife Action Plan.
Who can Apply?
NGOs meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in successfully implementing CSR projects in wildlife conservation.
- A dedicated team of environmentalists, ecologists, and biologists with expertise in species and ecosystems relevant to the project.
- Proven knowledge of local flora and fauna, threats to biodiversity, and a strong presence in the proposed region.
- Established relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Activities must not involve sub-letting, sub-contracting, or outsourcing.
