About the Grant

NIDHI-PRAYAS (NIDHI-PRomotion and Acceleration of Young and Aspiring technology entrepreneur) is a flagship initiative by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. This program aims to nurture technology-driven ideas and innovations, transforming them into successful startups. It is aligned with national priorities, focusing on building an innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem that contributes to socioeconomic development through job and wealth creation.

NIDHI-PRAYAS provides prototype funding to innovators, helping them bridge the early-stage gap in their entrepreneurial journey. The grant supports the development of physical product prototypes, enabling individuals to transform ideas into tangible solutions with commercial potential. By fostering experimentation and rapid adaptation, the program enhances the quality and quantity of innovative startups entering the incubation stage. The initiative is open to students, graduates, professionals, and early-stage startups with groundbreaking technology-driven concepts. Selected innovators receive not only financial assistance but also access to essential infrastructure, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Who can Apply?

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen with valid government-approved nationality proof (e.g., passport, voter ID).

  • The minimum age for applying is 18 years as of the application date.

  • Both individual innovators and startup founders can apply. If working in a team, a lead innovator must be designated to receive the funds.

  • The innovation must be based on technology and science, with a roadmap toward commercialization.

  • The proposed product must be a physical prototype and should be completed within 18 months.

  • Preference is given to applicants who are bootstrapped or have co-investment commitments, have clear commercialization plans, are women innovators, or are young entrepreneurs.

  • Applicants must have the technical skills or background to develop the prototype.

  • The project know-how or intellectual property (IP) must belong to the applicant or have authorized usage rights.

    Not Eligible:

    • Pure software development, e-commerce, service solutions, and app-based projects.

    • Students engaged in long-term research (e.g., PhD projects).

    • Academic research, student internships, or projects within R&D institutions.

Interested applicants can submit their proposals by filling out the application form before the deadline. Ensure that the application includes all required documents and meets the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be notified for further evaluation.
