SAMARTHAN Project

Application Deadline:
15 August 2025
About Organisation
The Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) has been working for over 35 years to support marginalised and vulnerable communities across Maharashtra. Guided by a mission to ensure every child lives with dignity, CCDT facilitates community-led action that empowers children and their families towards self-reliance. Its work is grounded in principles of child rights, equity, and justice. Adopting both rights-based and needs-based approaches, the organisation aims to create lasting social change by strengthening systems and building resilience within communities. Over the years, CCDT has developed strong partnerships with government bodies, non-profits, and community networks to address issues impacting children’s well-being. Its initiatives span residential care, mental health support, education, and capacity building for caregivers, particularly in Child Care Institutions (CCIs). The organisation’s holistic approach integrates psychosocial support, sustainable development goals, and strategic stakeholder collaboration to promote justice and equality. Through projects like SAMARTHAN, CCDT continues to drive systemic change by enhancing trauma-informed care, equipping caregivers to address complex needs, and fostering environments where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. The organisation’s expertise in working with orphans and vulnerable children uniquely positions it to lead impactful interventions across the state.
About the Grant
CCDT, in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) Maharashtra and the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR), invites proposals to develop a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) training module. The aim is to enhance caregiving practices in Child Care Institutions across Maharashtra, focusing on the mental well-being of children and the capacity of caregivers. The SAMARTHAN initiative draws on CCDT’s experience in operating residential care homes to create a culturally relevant and sustainable TIC framework. The selected agency will design structured, interactive modules tailored for house mothers, teachers, security personnel, and counsellors. The scope includes needs assessment, reference to existing materials, alignment with child rights and SDGs, and integration of non-violent communication strategies. Deliverables must include case studies, quizzes, presentations, handouts, worksheets, and multimedia resources, with both print-ready and editable formats. Pre- and post-assessment tools are also required. The goal is to embed TIC practices into everyday caregiving, improve caregiver well-being, and strengthen the institutional environment for children.
Who can Apply?
The opportunity is open to qualified individuals, agencies, and organisations with demonstrated experience in developing training modules, particularly in Trauma-Informed Care, mental health, and work with orphans and vulnerable children.
