About Organisation
The PADI Foundation is a nonprofit organisation established in 1992 to advance marine research, science and education. Its grantmaking supports projects that improve understanding of aquatic environments, diving physics, human physiology and conservation challenges affecting marine and coastal ecosystems. The Foundation has supported more than 1,389 projects worldwide and reports awarding more than US$5.9 million since its establishment. Its research funding particularly encourages projects connected with diving physiology, diver safety and scientific understanding of underwater environments. The Foundation also supports research that can contribute to better knowledge and protection of aquatic ecosystems and strengthen scientific understanding of the relationship between people and underwater environments.
About the Grant
The PADI Foundation Grant 2027 provides funding for research projects relating to aquatic environments, marine science, diving physiology and diver safety. Proposals can explore underwater ecosystems, diving physics, physiological effects associated with pressure, marine conservation and related scientific questions. Grants of up to US$15,000 are available, although the Foundation states that most awards generally fall between US$5,000 and US$10,000. Projects specifically addressing diver safety may receive special consideration for larger budgets. The Foundation generally does not fund overheads, indirect expenses, salaries, diving training or ordinary diving equipment. The programme is open internationally to eligible researchers and scientific applicants.

Proposed projects should contribute to scientific knowledge of underwater environments, diving physiology, diver safety or marine and coastal ecosystems. Projects must be suitable for the Foundation’s funding priorities and should distinguish research costs from unsupported overhead or indirect expenses.
