“NORE Foundation Grant for Early-Stage Social Impact”

Organisation Name:
NORE Foundation
Published Date:
Application Deadline:
JAN 31, 2024
About Organisation
The NORE Foundation, established in 1988 by NORE, envisions a more just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society, with a focus on India. Through significant philanthropic efforts, NORE has donated most of his wealth, creating an endowment of approximately INR 600 crore by January 2023 to fund the Foundation’s initiatives. The Foundation works on-the-ground across the country, supporting causes related to education, equity, and human well-being. It is a charitable incubator that empowers social entrepreneurs by providing resources, mentorship, and a platform to execute innovative solutions for social change. The Foundation supports early-stage organisations and social entrepreneurs tackling issues such as homelessness, cancer, and food insecurity, offering administrative and infrastructural support to help these initiatives thrive.
About the Grant
The NORE Foundation invites grant applications from early-stage not-for-profit organisations in Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Jharkhand. The Foundation aims to foster civil society vibrancy by providing small grants to organisations that are newly registered (on or after 1 April 2024). The grants are designed to support organisations that work with vulnerable or marginalised communities, enabling them to refine intervention designs, demonstrate early impact, and strengthen their organisational and financial systems. This support is especially beneficial at the early stages when organisations often face financial constraints, limiting their potential to experiment and innovate. The Foundation’s goal is to empower and amplify the efforts of small organisations with limited resources, enabling them to drive meaningful change.
Who can Apply?
Organisations eligible for this grant must be registered as a Society or Trust on or after 1 April 2020 and have an average annual expenditure of INR 10 lakh or less. They must also have a valid 12A and 80G certification. The organisation should be engaged with vulnerable or marginalised communities but not work directly in education or health (e.g., operating schools, health centres). The Foundation is specifically interested in supporting organisations at an early stage that demonstrate a commitment to addressing socio-economic challenges. Additionally, applicants must not be existing or past partners of the Foundation or currently under consideration for a grant.
