Call for Grant Applications – Institute for Anarchist Studies and Agency Grant Program 2024-25
About Organisation
The Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant is hosted by Agency and co-sponsored by the Institute for Anarchist Studies (IAS). It was established in honor of Jen Angel, a social justice activist, baker, writer, and co-founder of Agency, who tragically passed away in 2023. The grant program aims to support projects reflecting Jen’s life work—grassroots, autonomous, and direct-action media initiatives. IAS has funded anarchist intellectual work for over 25 years, helping make anarchist ideas accessible to a wide audience. This grant seeks to continue Jen’s legacy by funding projects that amplify the core values of anarchism: autonomy, mutual aid, voluntary association, and direct action.
About the Grant
The Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant supports media projects that align with anarchist principles, including grassroots, independent, and DIY projects. Each year, the program awards several micro-grants, typically ranging from $300 to $1500, with priority given to smaller proposals to fund a wider range of projects. The grants are designed to support anarchist media that reflect Jen Angel’s legacy of activism and grassroots work. The program is co-hosted by IAS and Agency, providing funding for projects in multiple languages and from a variety of backgrounds, including incarcerated and marginalized creators.
Who can Apply?
The Jen Angel Anarchist Media Grant is open to individuals globally, with a priority for BIPOC, QT and TNB, low-income, and incarcerated creators. Projects should reflect anarchist principles, and applicants do not need academic credentials to apply. Although academic applications are allowed, priority is given to creators outside academia, as they often lack access to funding opportunities. Additionally, individuals with no prior experience in media or fieldwork are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will need to accept the grant by July 31st, 2025, and remain in contact with the IAS or Agency for support throughout the project.
How to Apply?
