The ICLD Dissemination Grant supports organisations delivering practical training to local government officials on democratic governance. With funding of up to SEK 150,000, this local governance grant focuses on applying ICLD’s tools and frameworks in real-world municipal contexts. The programme emphasizes hands-on, context-relevant training aligned with ICLD’s Code of Conduct and Knowledge Bank. It also encourages collaboration with Alumni coordinators to ensure effective implementation. This democracy funding opportunity aims to strengthen municipal systems, enhance governance practices, and improve service delivery by equipping public officials with practical skills and tools for sustainable and accountable local governance.
Who can Apply?
This international grants 2026 opportunity is open to legally registered organisations capable of issuing invoices and demonstrating strong financial and operational capacity. Eligible applicants include Local Government Associations and organisations that train, support, or represent municipalities. Priority is given to organisations that have participated in ICLD’s Training of Trainers programme. Applicants must operate in eligible countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa. Only one application per organisation is allowed, and individuals are not eligible. Proposals must demonstrate the ability to deliver practical training and integrate ICLD governance tools effectively.
How to Apply?
Applicants must submit a single application outlining training objectives, methodology, and budget. Proposals should demonstrate collaboration with ICLD Regional Alumni Coordinators and integration of governance tools into practical training sessions. A detailed financial plan covering eligible costs is required. Selected organisations must implement training, maintain transparent financial records, and submit final narrative and financial reports to receive full funding.
