About Organisation
The United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM) acts as a central hub for procurement activities of the United Nations and other international organizations. It facilitates the procurement process by connecting suppliers with UN agencies, providing an efficient platform to submit proposals and engage in procurement activities. UNGM’s aim is to streamline and enhance the procurement process while fostering international cooperation and sustainable development initiatives. The platform is designed to support the UN’s mission, which includes addressing global challenges such as climate change, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development, by enabling the submission of proposals to key UN programs. By inviting applications and proposals, UNGM supports projects that align with the UN’s broader objectives of fostering global cooperation and delivering impactful solutions in areas such as environmental protection, disaster resilience, and sustainable development.
About the Grant
This grant supports two key areas: loss and damage management and implementing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS). The funding focuses on enhancing local capacities in Zambia and Mauritius to address climate challenges. The loss and damage component aims to develop methodologies for local-level climate impact assessments and create actionable plans for adaptation and resilience. The NbS component seeks to address urban heat, flooding, and coastal hazards through innovative ecosystem-based approaches, providing both environmental and economic benefits. Projects will focus on scalable models, financial frameworks, and stakeholder engagement to overcome barriers to NbS implementation. The funding is part of a three-year Danish contribution supporting UNEP-CCC’s work in urban areas. The grant duration is 12 months, with a total budget of USD 250,000, divided equally between the two target countries.
