About Organisation
Pivotal, an initiative by Melinda French Gates, is committed to advancing gender equality by addressing key barriers that women face in realizing their full potential. Pivotal invests in solutions that promote equity across various sectors, with a special focus on women’s health, economic empowerment, and leadership. By leveraging its influence and resources, Pivotal aims to create lasting change, particularly for women and girls in underrepresented and underserved communities worldwide. The organization drives collaborations with partners across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, and finance, to ensure that women have the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Its goal is to break systemic inequalities and transform societal norms that prevent women from exercising their full rights.
About the Grant
Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global open call launched by Pivotal, seeks to fund organizations dedicated to improving the mental and physical health of women. This grant program addresses health inequities affecting women, which in turn hinder their ability to fully participate in society. Organizations of varying sizes and from diverse geographies are encouraged to apply, especially those who have historically been excluded from major funding streams. The program emphasizes scalability and equity, supporting initiatives that strengthen women’s health and wellbeing globally. Awardees will receive flexible funding between $1 million and $5 million, based on the scope and impact of their work.
Who can Apply?
Eligible organizations must be actively serving women and have a demonstrated track record of improving their mental or physical health. Applicants should incorporate an equity-driven approach, ensuring their work addresses health disparities affecting women. The initiative is open to organizations of any size, based anywhere in the world, that are poised to scale their operations. Importantly, this open call seeks to broaden access to funding, particularly for organizations that have previously faced barriers to financial support. Applicants must undergo a peer review process, followed by evaluation from an external panel, to determine the top-rated organizations eligible for funding.
How to Apply?
Organizations must register online before 4 p.m. U.S. Central Time on December 3, 2024, to be eligible for the application process. After registration, applicants must submit their full proposals by January 10, 2025. Following submission, applications will undergo a review process involving both peer evaluations and an external panel.
