It works hand-in-hand with local and international actors to design and implement strategies that address emerging social, environmental, and educational challenges.
About the Grant
The King Baudouin Foundation is currently inviting applications for the Ernest Solvay Fund Programme, which provides financial support to forward-looking and impactful projects in three key areas: STEM education, planetary sustainability, and community well-being. The Fund aims to foster interest among youth in STEM fields—including science (chemistry, physics, earth sciences), technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital learning. It also supports projects addressing pressing environmental issues such as biodiversity, pollution, water purity, and energy transition. In addition, the Fund encourages efforts to enhance the physical, psychosocial, and financial well-being of communities linked to Solvay’s industrial presence. By funding innovative, mission-driven projects, the Ernest Solvay Fund helps shape a more sustainable, educated, and inclusive future for Solvay’s surrounding communities.
Who can Apply?
The grant is open to non-commercial organizations implementing projects aligned with one of the Fund’s three themes: STEM education, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. Projects must promote STEM education (with emphasis on science, digital skills, and engineering among young people), address ecological challenges (like biodiversity, pollution control, or water management), or improve the quality of life for Solvay’s local communities. To be eligible, projects must take place within a 100 km radius of a Solvay industrial site. Projects linked to Solvay’s administrative or commercial offices are not considered. Organizations should ensure their initiatives are practical, community-driven, and fit within the defined geographical scope. Applicants are encouraged to review specific selection criteria to confirm eligibility before submission.
How to Apply?
Eligible organizations must submit their complete application for the Ernest Solvay Fund Programme by the specified deadline. Ensure that the proposal clearly aligns with one of the three thematic areas.
