About Organisation

The Education Opportunity Fund Programme is an initiative supported by the KLA Foundation, which is committed to creating meaningful, lasting change in the communities where it operates. The foundation focuses on empowering underserved and under-resourced student communities by supporting nonprofit organizations that work towards equitable access to education. Through catalytic funding, KLA aims to drive sustainable, systemic change in education systems across multiple countries including the United States, India, Germany, Japan, and others. The foundation emphasizes the importance of inclusive learning environments, prioritizing students from low-income, first-generation backgrounds, and institutions with limited resources. KLA Foundation fosters innovation, collaboration, and equity through its strategic grantmaking efforts. The foundation supports nonprofits that not only directly impact K-12 education (or its equivalent internationally) but also work toward policy reform, curriculum innovation, mental well-being support, and talent development in education. By focusing on long-term outcomes and collaborative partnerships, the KLA Foundation strives to uplift entire education ecosystems, helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Grant

The Education Opportunity Fund Programme offers targeted funding to nonprofits addressing systemic challenges in education. The grant seeks to expand educational access, particularly in STEM fields, by supporting technology-driven solutions and programs for K-12 students in the U.S. and international equivalents. It also funds efforts that promote social-emotional and mental health resources in under-resourced schools and communities. A third key area of support includes improving educational systems through policy changes, curriculum updates, and development of educational talent pipelines. Grant projects should align with a long-term vision, promote equity, and create measurable impact. Priority will be given to proposals with a clear strategy to eliminate barriers to education, demonstrate active school-community partnerships, and apply innovative approaches to improving systems rather than “fixing” students. Grantees should be capable of tracking progress, evaluating outcomes, and collaborating within networks to enhance results. The fund supports projects for a duration of 1 to 3 years, offering financial backing that ranges from $50,000 to $250,000 per year. The goal is to inspire systemic, future-focused solutions that build stronger, more inclusive educational ecosystems.

Who can Apply?

Nonprofit organizations that are working to uplift under-resourced students and operate in communities where KLA is present are eligible to apply. Organizations must be either registered as 501(c)(3) public charities in the U.S. or their international NGO equivalents. Alternatively, they may apply under the fiscal sponsorship of such entities. Applicants must maintain an active profile on the Benevity platform. Eligible applicants should have a proven record of engagement with K-12 schools in the U.S. or with primary and secondary institutions internationally. The organizations should demonstrate a strong connection to the communities they serve and present a compelling plan to eliminate educational disparities. Funding is prioritized for programs that focus on removing barriers to educational access, promote asset-based student engagement, and aim to enhance systems rather than addressing deficits in students. Organizations must also show capacity to assess the impact of their interventions and report progress effectively. Preference will be given to those forming or building upon partnerships and coalitions and offering strategic, innovative, and scalable solutions to educational challenges. Entities that are politically affiliated, focused on capital campaigns, general operations, debt retirement, or event sponsorships are not eligible.

How to Apply?

Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply by submitting a detailed project proposal that outlines objectives, strategies, expected impact, and alignment with the fund’s focus areas. Applicants must ensure their profile is active on the Benevity platform. Proposals should reflect a systemic approach to educational transformation, highlight measurable goals, and include evidence of partnerships with schools. Ensure all documents and requirements are completed before the deadline.
