Develop Innovative Analytical Technologies for Vaccines

Organisation Name:

Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI)

Grant Amount: $10.7 million

Application Deadline:

30 June 2025

About Organisation

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global organization that funds and supports the development of vaccines against infectious diseases that pose a threat to public health worldwide. CEPI works to accelerate vaccine development and ensure equitable access to vaccines in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Their mission is to reduce the impact of epidemics and pandemics through scientific collaboration, technology innovation, and equitable distribution of resources. CEPI collaborates with governments, private sector partners, and other international organizations to respond to outbreaks swiftly and effectively, ultimately enhancing global health security. CEPI’s focus is on advancing the development and manufacturing of vaccines, along with tools that help tackle epidemic and pandemic threats through innovative approaches.

About the Grant

CEPI has announced a funding opportunity aimed at developing innovative analytical technologies that will accelerate vaccine development, reduce costs, and enhance deployment. The focus is on technologies that improve vaccine release speed, minimize manufacturing costs, and make vaccines more accessible globally, particularly in LMICs. This funding supports the development of analytical tools that can streamline the vaccine manufacturing process, replace traditional assays, and improve vaccine characterization. Applicants will work on technologies like biosensors, PCR, and sequencing to minimize time and cost in the vaccine development cycle. Successful applicants will be awarded funding in two stages, with the aim of producing solutions that can be commercialized or adapted for vaccine production.

Who can Apply?

This funding opportunity is open to individual organizations or consortia developing analytical technologies that can enhance vaccine development. Eligible applicants must demonstrate that their technology is already proven or can be commercialized within three years. The technology must significantly reduce the time, cost, or skill level required for vaccine testing or manufacturing. It should be capable of being developed into a modular or single-box solution. The applicant’s proposal must include a clear development plan within a 30-month timeline and a budget not exceeding $1M. For characterisation technologies, applicants must provide evidence of new insights that existing technologies cannot offer.

How to Apply?

To apply, submit a proposal detailing the technology, development plan, and budget. Ensure the technology meets the specified eligibility criteria and demonstrates a viable solution for vaccine development.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting proposals is 30th June 2025.
