The Water Research Foundation (WRF) is a research organisation supporting scientific studies and innovation related to water quality, water management and emerging environmental challenges. Through its Research Priority Program, WRF funds research addressing practical issues relevant to water and environmental systems. The 2026 research opportunity on PFAS contributions to agricultural systems investigates how different agricultural inputs may contribute to PFAS concentrations and their movement within agricultural environments. About the Grant
The WRF Comparison of PFAS Contributions to Agricultural Systems grant supports research examining PFAS concentrations associated with agricultural inputs. The study will consider animal manures, fertilizers, pesticides, composts, soil amendments, seed coatings and biosolids-based products. Research will compare how different inputs influence PFAS concentrations in soil over varying timeframes and evaluate their fate and transport at field scale. Findings should help determine the relative contribution of biosolids-based products and other agricultural inputs and support the development and prioritisation of appropriate risk-management strategies.
Who can Apply?
The opportunity is designed for eligible organisations able to conduct the proposed agricultural PFAS research and manage a WRF-funded research project. The programme is available through an organisation account rather than an individual applicant account. Applicants should have the scientific, technical and organisational capacity required to investigate PFAS in agricultural systems, undertake field-scale or relevant analytical research and meet WRF’s research-management requirements. How to Apply?
