About the Grant

The Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship promotes education for sustainable peace, emphasizing educational media and curricula in post-conflict or transitional societies. The fellowship aims to connect theory with practice, encouraging research that translates into actionable policies, educational tools, or publications that strengthen civil-society capacities. Fellows undertake a six-month research stay at GEI in Brunswick, Germany, where they collaborate with scholars and practitioners in peace education and media development. The fellowship offers a monthly stipend of €3,300, a return economy airfare, and comprehensive administrative and publication support. The program seeks to generate knowledge that contributes to peaceful coexistence through education, fostering leadership and innovation in peace education globally. The fellowship’s outcomes are expected to influence educational reform and policy, reinforcing sustainable development through learning.

Who can Apply?

The fellowship welcomes senior scholars and experienced practitioners in the fields of humanities, education sciences, political science, social sciences, or law. Applicants should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in peace education or related areas. Ideal candidates combine academic excellence with hands-on practice, such as experience in NGOs, government, journalism, or international education initiatives. Applicants must demonstrate significant impact in their fields through published work, innovative educational projects, or policy contributions that advance peace education. The fellowship is best suited for individuals who have demonstrated leadership, commitment to social transformation, and the ability to bridge academic insights with community-level applications. Preference is given to those whose work aligns closely with GEI’s mission to strengthen education for sustainable peace and international understanding.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must complete an online application and submit a 1,000-word project summary. Pre-selected candidates will be invited to provide a full proposal and participate in an online interview with the Academic Advisory Board. Final selection will be based on the quality, impact, and feasibility of the proposed project.
