About the Grant

The AirAsia Foundation grant aims to empower ASEAN-based social enterprises by supporting impactful and sustainable ventures. These grants are designed for projects that offer long-term solutions to social or environmental challenges through business models that generate revenue while benefiting local communities.

This grant focuses on helping innovative enterprises expand their reach or launch new initiatives. Grantees can use the funding for product or service development, marketing, community training, or acquiring assets that support their project’s growth. However, it does not cover operational cash flow, land, or building purchases.

Selected organisations will receive seed funding of up to USD 20,000, alongside tailored mentorship and access to AirAsia’s network to amplify their impact. The goal is to ensure that funded projects can sustain themselves beyond the grant period by reinvesting profits into their missions.

AirAsia Foundation looks for ventures that stand out through their unique approaches and measurable community impact. Special preference is given to projects related to sustainable tourism and climate resilience, although other high-impact initiatives are also considered. Through this grant, AirAsia Foundation aims to nurture bold ideas that address local challenges and build stronger, more sustainable communities across the ASEAN region.

Who can Apply?

The AirAsia Foundation grant is open to social enterprises, community organisations, and groups that are based in and led by individuals within the ASEAN region. Applicants must have a proven track record of delivering meaningful social or environmental impact and must demonstrate a commitment to reinvesting profits into their mission or the local community.

Eligible initiatives should either propose a new venture or the expansion of an existing one, with clearly defined goals achievable within a 12-month period. The organisation must present a viable plan for income generation that ensures sustainability beyond the grant period. Applications are particularly encouraged from those operating within close proximity to an airport served by AirAsia to help facilitate promotion and access.

In addition, applicants should show strong leadership, accountability, and cost-conscious management. AirAsia Foundation also values innovative approaches that distinguish the enterprise from others in the field and encourages programmes that can engage AirAsia’s corporate volunteers.

Organisations that can leverage AirAsia’s network strengths—such as logistical support, brand visibility, and professional expertise—are strongly encouraged to apply. The grant seeks to empower ventures that not only benefit their immediate communities but also serve as scalable models of social innovation across the ASEAN region.
