About Organisation

The New Earth Foundation (NEF) is a philanthropic organization focused on funding innovative projects that enhance human well-being and promote environmental sustainability. The foundation seeks to support smaller, newer 501(c)(3) organizations, enabling them to have a larger impact with the grants provided. NEF prioritizes projects that focus on environmental conservation, social sustainability, educational innovation, and economic improvement. The foundation is especially interested in projects that are replicable, enabling successful ideas to benefit multiple communities or regions. By supporting such initiatives, NEF aims to foster positive and lasting changes in society and the environment.

About the Grant

NEF provides grants to innovative and transformative projects that aim to address critical social and environmental challenges. The foundation funds projects across various sectors, including environmental protection, community building, education, and economic development. NEF places high value on projects that are new, pioneering, and offer practical solutions to pressing issues. Projects must have well-defined goals, a detailed implementation plan, and measurable outcomes. The foundation also encourages projects that involve community collaboration and have plans for replication to ensure benefits extend to other areas. NEF favors cost-effective projects with a realistic budget that balances administrative costs with the benefits provided to the target population.

Who can Apply?

Organizations applying for NEF grants must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) entities. The organization must have a clearly defined project with measurable goals and an implementation plan. Projects should address important and ongoing needs within communities or ecosystems, with the potential for replication and scaling. The foundation values projects that engage the community in the planning process. If an organization does not have 501(c)(3) status, it can apply under the umbrella of a fiscal sponsor, which must be a 501(c)(3) organization. The fiscal sponsor must submit a letter of agreement outlining the details of the project and the nature of the support provided.

How to Apply?

To apply for NEF funding, organizations must first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) that describes the proposed project. The LOI helps NEF assess if the project aligns with its mission and criteria. If the LOI is approved, the organization will be invited to submit a full grant application. LOIs can be submitted at any time, and NEF reviews them twice a year, contacting applicants within four to six weeks to inform them if they are invited to apply for a full grant.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting Letters of Inquiry is 1 February, 2025.
