Who can Apply?

The foundation values projects that engage the community in the planning process. If an organization does not have 501(c)(3) status, it can apply under the umbrella of a fiscal sponsor, which must be a 501(c)(3) organization. The fiscal sponsor must submit a letter of agreement outlining the details of the project and the nature of the support provided.
How to Apply?
To apply for NEF funding, organizations must first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) that describes the proposed project. The LOI helps NEF assess if the project aligns with its mission and criteria. If the LOI is approved, the organization will be invited to submit a full grant application. LOIs can be submitted at any time, and NEF reviews them twice a year, contacting applicants within four to six weeks to inform them if they are invited to apply for a full grant.
