About Organisation
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a federal agency responsible for national housing and community development initiatives in the United States. HUD administers programmes that support affordable housing, community development, housing accessibility and safer living environments. Through initiatives such as the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program 2026, HUD helps communities address housing-related challenges affecting low-income older adults. The programme supports qualified organisations and government entities in delivering practical home improvements that promote safety, mobility and accessibility. These efforts help older adults maintain independence and continue living safely within their homes and communities.
About the Grant
The Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program 2026 provides cooperative agreement funding for comprehensive home modification programmes serving low-income seniors. Projects should deliver low-cost, low-barrier and high-impact modifications that reduce fall risks, improve safety, increase accessibility and strengthen older adults’ ability to perform everyday activities. Supported initiatives can include safety repairs, accessibility improvements and functional home renovations designed around seniors’ needs. The central objective is to support aging in place, enabling older adults to remain safely and independently in their homes rather than relocating to nursing homes or other assisted-care facilities.
