AndPurpose at ICIMOD HKH Investment Conference 2026: Representing India's Sustainability Ecosystem on a Global Stage
In March 2026, Kamna Hazrati, Founder & CEO of AndPurpose, spoke at the ICIMOD HKH Investment Conference 2026 in Bangkok—one of the most curated global convenings on climate finance for the Hindu Kush Himalayan region.
Spanning eight nations—India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Pakistan—the region represents both a shared ecological responsibility and a critical frontier for climate investment.
Designed as a multi-stakeholder platform by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the conference brought together governments, investors, entrepreneurs, and development institutions to unlock climate finance and strengthen investment ecosystems for mountain regions.
AndPurpose stood out as the only Indian ecosystem builder represented—marking a significant presence in a room shaped largely by government institutions, multilateral finance bodies, and banking leaders across the HKH region.
The Panel: Innovation & Investment Pipelines in the Hindu Kush Himalaya
Kamna participated in Session I: Enabling the HKH Investment Ecosystem — Policy, Risk & Scalable Solutions, as part of Panel 3 on Innovation & Investment Pipelines, moderated by Royston Braganza, CEO of Grameen Capital.
The panel brought together key voices including Sonam Tashi (Royal Government of Bhutan), Sanid Patil (Invest India), and Anil Keshary Shah (Nabil Bank).
The broader session included stakeholders such as Pema Gyamtsho, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, UN Women, Karuna Foundation, and the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.

At the heart of the discussion was a defining question:
“How do we move from scattered innovation to structured, investable pipelines?”
The HKH Region’s Narrative Problem — and Why It Matters for Climate Finance
The HKH region is not suffering from a solutions deficit—it is facing a narrative deficit.
It provides water to nearly two billion people and holds over 3.5 terawatts of untapped clean energy potential—more than double the combined renewable targets of its member nations.
Regions like Northeast India, despite being among the most biodiverse in the world, contribute only 0.6% to India’s annual exports.
Yet, the dominant narrative continues to focus on vulnerability—melting glaciers, climate risks, and fragile ecosystems—while overlooking the region’s investment potential.
Kamna highlighted that this is not a failure of solutions, but a failure of narrative infrastructure. The investment thesis exists; what’s missing is the ecosystem that consistently brings it into view for capital and policy.
Grassroots Innovations Already Proving the Investment Thesis
Across the region, solutions are already taking shape.
From EV infrastructure expanding across Northeast India to solar-led innovations in Ladakh’s high-altitude terrain, entrepreneurs are building climate-resilient models in some of the toughest geographies.
Initiatives like A+ Charge are addressing EV infrastructure gaps in Northeast India, while Guna Organics is delivering solar-powered solutions impacting over 3,500 lives. These are not early-stage pilots—they are proof points of scalable impact.
The challenge is not innovation—it is visibility, connection, and scale.

“The HKH continues to be framed primarily as a region of risk: melting glaciers, climate vulnerability, and fragile ecosystems. While these realities are undeniable, they are incomplete. The region is equally a landscape of opportunity-rich in natural capital, innovation potential, and untapped clean energy.”
Kamna Hazrati, CEO, AndPurpose
What’s Next: AndPurpose Forum Coming to Northeast India & Guwahati in 2026
The conference reinforced a clear direction for what comes next.
Later in 2026, AndPurpose Forums will come to Northeast India — Guwahati and the broader Himalayan region , creating a platform that connects grassroots innovation with capital, policy, and institutional partners.
This will culminate at the AndPurpose Global Summit in New Delhi in November 2026—bringing these conversations to a global stage.
The HKH region does not need another study.
It needs platforms, narrators, and ecosystem connectors.
And that is the role AndPurpose is here to play.
