Organisations of all sizes, including charities, schools, councils, and social enterprises, are encouraged to bring forward innovative ideas that can make a tangible difference in the community. With a focus on both capital and revenue-based projects, the fund ensures that financial support is available for a wide range of activities that promote wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. The Robin Rigg Community Fund believes in empowering local action by offering the resources, guidance, and support necessary to make impactful change.
About the Grant
The Robin Rigg Community Fund offers financial support of up to £15,000 to community-led projects that contribute to sustainable development and climate action within the Solway area. The grant supports both capital investments and revenue-based initiatives that seek to enhance energy efficiency, promote renewable energy, protect the environment, or improve community amenities. The fund prioritises projects that bring long-term benefits to local people by addressing pressing issues such as climate change, resource conservation, and community wellbeing. Funding is designed to help organisations overcome financial barriers while delivering practical, results-oriented solutions that benefit wider communities. Applications are welcome from organisations that align with the fund’s objectives, encouraging innovative solutions and collaboration. Projects must be ready to start soon after funding approval, with all funds to be spent by the end of December 2026 to ensure timely and impactful delivery. The grant focuses on transparency and accountability, requiring organisations to submit financial records and quotations to demonstrate cost-effectiveness. Through this initiative, local groups are empowered to lead change in areas where their knowledge, expertise, and community connections can make a meaningful difference.
Who can Apply?
The Robin Rigg Community Fund is open to a wide range of community organisations operating within the Solway area, which covers parts of Dumfries & Galloway and Cumbria. Eligible applicants include registered charities, not-for-profit companies, voluntary and community groups, constituted clubs, schools, social enterprises, parish councils, and community councils. Projects must be based in designated local areas, and applicants should clearly demonstrate how their project will benefit the community. There are no restrictions on the size of the organisation, but projects must align with the fund’s priorities. Projects that contradict sustainability goals or energy conservation efforts are also ineligible. Organisations must provide supporting documentation such as governing documents, financial statements, safeguarding policies if applicable, and evidence of community backing. Quotations for services or equipment must be included to ensure financial transparency and value for money. The fund encourages collaborative efforts but requires the lead applicant to be an eligible non-profit entity. Projects should be designed to deliver tangible benefits that align with climate action and community development goals.

To apply, organisations must complete an application form detailing the project, objectives, and expected outcomes. Supporting documents such as financial records, governing documents, safeguarding policies, and quotations must be included.
