The Zayed Sustainability Prize was established in 2008 to honor the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Zayed was a visionary leader deeply committed to environmental stewardship, social development, and education. The Prize not only offers global recognition but also facilitates greater impact through financial support and visibility. So far, it has honored 128 winners, whose initiatives have positively impacted over 400 million people worldwide, reflecting the Prize’s commitment to fostering a better, more sustainable future for all.

About the Grant

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is a prestigious global award based in the UAE that acknowledges and supports small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and high schools creating transformative and sustainable solutions. Rooted in the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Prize is designed to accelerate the growth and outreach of ideas that promote sustainability and improve quality of life globally.
The Prize spans six distinct categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action, and Global High Schools. Each category highlights critical areas that align with global development priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From improving access to healthcare and clean water to enhancing food security, energy access, climate resilience, and youth leadership, the Prize provides a platform to scale up impactful solutions.
With 128 winners to date, the Prize has facilitated life-changing innovations that have touched the lives of more than 400 million people. It is not just a financial award but a catalyst for global visibility and further collaboration. This grant is an opportunity for changemakers to gain recognition, share their innovations on a global platform, and inspire further advancements in sustainability around the world.

Who can Apply?

The Zayed Sustainability Prize invites applications from small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and high schools that offer impactful and sustainable solutions to global challenges. The eligibility requirements vary across six categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action, and Global High Schools.
In the Health category, eligible applicants must present innovative solutions that expand access to essential healthcare services, prevent disease outbreaks, or address pressing public health issues. The Food category seeks organizations improving food security through sustainable agriculture, better nutrition, or resilient food systems.
The Energy category welcomes solutions that promote access to clean, affordable energy and improve energy efficiency. For the Water category, applicants should focus on ensuring clean, affordable drinking water, enhancing sanitation, or promoting efficient water use.
The Climate Action category supports those building climate resilience, conserving ecosystems, or working on carbon capture and sustainable land use.
Lastly, the Global High Schools category encourages student-led projects that address sustainability in one or more of the above sectors—Health, Food, Energy, or Water.
Each applicant must demonstrate measurable impact, innovation, and sustainability in their approach. The Prize aims to empower diverse changemakers who are making a real difference in their communities and beyond.

How to Apply?

Applicants can participate by following three simple steps: First, register on the official Prize Portal. Next, select the appropriate category and complete the application form with all required information. Finally, review your submission and submit it through the portal. Ensure your application showcases your project’s impact, innovation, and sustainability to enhance your chances of selection.

Application Deadline

The submission window for the Zayed Sustainability Prize closes in June 2025. All interested organizations and schools must complete their applications before the deadline to be considered.


Last Date to Apply
Applicants must submit their completed applications for the Zayed Sustainability Prize by the final deadline in June 2025. Late submissions will not be entertained under any circumstances.
