About the Grant

Recognizing the urgent need for adequate funding in youth-led climate initiatives, Roots provides micro-grants of up to $10,000 USD to support grassroots projects advocating for climate justice through an intersectional approach. The grant is designed to bridge the gap between financial resources and emerging climate movements led by young community advocates. Alongside financial support, recipients also benefit from ongoing mentorship and guidance.

Roots will award grants to 10-15 youth-led initiatives focusing on climate action in regions including Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South East Asia, and South Asia. Priority will be given to projects that are community-driven, ambitious, and transformative in addressing the root causes of climate issues. Additionally, projects that actively support marginalized communities, promote intergenerational collaboration, and emphasize the wellbeing of their members will be strongly considered.

This initiative aims to empower youth-led groups by providing them with the necessary tools, skills, and financial backing to drive systemic change and promote environmental sustainability.
