The Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) is a joint initiative of India’s Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). It promotes bilateral collaboration by connecting academia, industry, and government institutions from both countries. IGSTC focuses on fostering innovation-driven research and development that contributes to economic growth and societal impact. Through structured funding programs, it supports partnerships that combine scientific expertise with industrial application. Its initiatives aim to accelerate technology development, strengthen Indo-German cooperation, and enable scalable solutions addressing global challenges through collaborative research and innovation ecosystems.

About the Grant

The IGSTC Project Call 2026 supports joint Indo-German R&D projects under the “2+2” partnership model, combining academic and industry partners from both countries. The grant focuses on innovation-driven solutions with strong industrial relevance, particularly in Economic and Sustainable Solutions. Key subtopics include Mobile Health & Telemedicine and Integrated Water Resource Management. Projects must begin at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 and progress to TRL 6 or beyond, ensuring practical applicability. The initiative aims to develop market-ready technologies, products, or services that address real-world challenges, encourage investment, and create long-term impact through collaborative research and industry alignment.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must form a consortium with at least one academic and one industry partner each from India and Germany, ensuring a 2+2 structure. A maximum of six partners (three per country) is allowed. Indian academic institutions must be recognized by NAAC, UGC, or AICTE, while industries must be registered entities under Indian law with established R&D capabilities. German partners must include research institutions or companies with a registered presence in Germany. Industry partners must demonstrate financial capacity for co-investment. All partners must contribute meaningfully, maintain balanced collaboration, and ensure proper intellectual property management throughout the project duration.

How to Apply?

Applicants must submit proposals through the official IGSTC online portal. The designated project coordinator must first register and then add consortium partners to complete the application. Proposals should align with the specified thematic areas and clearly define roles, contributions, and expected outcomes. Only complete submissions made within the deadline will be considered. IGSTC may request additional documentation or alternate submission formats if required during the evaluation process.
