About the Grant

The EMBO Installation Grant Program aims to support researchers establishing independent laboratories in eligible countries. This grant provides substantial financial support and integrates recipients into the prestigious EMBO Young Investigator Network, ensuring extensive networking and professional development opportunities. The grant is intended to assist scientists in building strong research groups, advancing their work, and fostering collaborations with other EMBO program members. Recipients gain access to specialized training in research leadership, responsible research conduct, and scientific management. Who can Apply?

The EMBO Installation Grant is open to researchers who are negotiating or have recently secured a full-time position at an institute or university in an eligible country. Applicants must be engaged in research within EMBO’s subject areas and should have obtained their PhD within the last nine years (since 2016 for the 2025 call). Additionally, candidates must have spent at least two consecutive years outside the country where they plan to establish their laboratory, within the four years before applying (since 2021 for the 2025 call). The grant is available to medical scientists whose work aligns with EMBO research areas. Eligible applicants should be able to participate in an online interview on October 28 or 29, 2025. Candidates can apply multiple times if they meet the criteria, but after being interviewed once, they can only apply one more time. The eligible countries for this grant cycle include Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Greece, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, and Türkiye.

How to Apply?

Candidates must complete an online and offline application form through the EMBO application system. The submission requires three reference letters, an online application form filled by the receiving institute, and additional documentation.
