The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialised UN agency working to eliminate hunger, improve nutrition and strengthen food security worldwide. FAO promotes sustainable agriculture, resilient food systems and responsible management of natural resources. Through World Food Day, observed annually on 16 October, the organisation raises global awareness about hunger, nutrition and the need for sustainable food systems. Its annual poster contest gives children and young people an opportunity to explore these issues creatively and communicate their ideas about the future of food and agriculture through original artwork.
About the Grant
The World Food Day Poster Contest 2026 invites children and young people aged 5–19 from around the world to create an original poster based on the theme “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.” The contest encourages participants to consider how technology, science, creative ideas and traditional knowledge can contribute to a better food future. Participants can use traditional artistic techniques or digital tools to express their vision of innovation, food security, sustainability and protecting the planet.
Who can Apply?
The contest is open to children and youth aged 5–19 worldwide. Participants are placed into four age groups: 5–8, 9–12, 13–15 and 16–19 years. Minors must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Each participant can submit only one entry. Artwork must be original and should not contain personal information, logos or photographs. Posters may be hand-drawn, painted, created using mixed media or produced digitally. AI-generated artwork is not permitted; AI may only be used for ideation or editing where its use is disclosed.
How to Apply?
Create an original poster around the theme “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.” and submit it through the official FAO online entry form. Artwork should be submitted digitally in the required image format. Participants should ensure that the poster follows FAO’s rules concerning originality, text, personal information and use of AI. Physical posters are not accepted.
