We Shared Expertise on New Narratives for Systems Change

Representing AndPurpose on this global platform, our founder Kamna Hazrati, was a speaker at a panel on “New Narratives for Systems Change” highlighting the importance stories have in shaping the world we live in today.

The session had amongst it the legendary founder of BLabs Mr. Andrew Kassoy along with climate change advocate Mr. Christopher Guerin, CEO Nexans, and our fellow panellists Mr. Akira Nakahara (CEO of Imperative 21) and Mr. Kevin Tayebaly (co-founder of ChangeNOW), explored the critical role of storytelling in driving sustainable change within the business ecosystem.

Insights from the Panel

We started off by putting a light on the relationship between systems and narratives, to which Mr. Nakahara rightly answered,

Systems and stories are interconnected, systems don’t change until stories do.

This prompted a continued quote by Kamna,

The stories we tell and the narratives we share, play a key role in shaping our mental models. To bring sustainable changes at the systems level, we need to work on telling the right stories.

Henceforth, the discussion focused on empowering participants to identify impactful narratives and initiate strategic shifts to create positive change within their spheres of influence.

We concluded the panel discussion by mentioning “Not Sympathy, but Empathy”, to be the starting point for people and organisations to make a shift in the way they participate or support narratives in the present day.

Early Innovators to Big Corporations

The summit highlighted a clear trend: brands and organizations are dedicating resources to inspire consumer action. With a growing focus on ethical values and environmental impact, consumers are making conscious choices regarding the products, services, and narratives they support.

Bigger businesses have also started to work on how their impact footprints   match with their global footprint.
