The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. The programme encourages collaboration, innovation and transnational education partnerships between institutions in India and the UK.
About the Grant
The TNE Grants with India 2026–27 support UK-India partnerships developing and launching innovative transnational education courses and degree programmes. The grant focuses on emerging disciplines including AI and Machine Learning, quantum computing, genomics, sustainable energy, climate change, robotics, space technologies, semiconductors, synthetic biology and critical minerals. Projects should strengthen academia-industry collaboration while creating educational opportunities for young people in future-focused disciplines. The initiative encourages interdisciplinary, high-impact programmes capable of contributing to a strong pipeline of TNE courses. Successful projects will receive £30,000 and run for approximately 17 months, beginning on 30 September 2026.
Who can Apply?
Applications should involve partnerships between eligible UK higher education institutions, Indian higher education institutions and industry partners. UK applicants must be higher education providers with degree-awarding powers. Indian partners may include government or privately funded higher education institutions recognised by appropriate state or central authorities, including UGC or AICTE. Indian Institutes of Eminence and Institutes of National Importance are encouraged to participate. Eligible industry partners include legally compliant for-profit commercial organisations, ranging from micro and small enterprises to medium and large companies. Projects should establish meaningful academia-industry collaboration and develop TNE programmes within the identified emerging disciplines.

Applicants must complete the designated Going Global Partnerships – India – TNE Grants 2026 application through the British Council’s online grant platform. Partnerships should review the application documentation and prepare all required information before submission. Applicants must ensure that their proposed TNE programme meets the eligibility requirements, priority disciplines and academia-industry collaboration objectives. Registration on the grant platform is required before submitting the final application.
