About Organisation
The Environmental Photography Award is a flagship initiative of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, one of the leading institutions dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability. As a core pillar of its Green Shift initiative, the award promotes environmental awareness through powerful visual storytelling. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire collective action for the planet by showcasing impactful images that highlight the challenges and beauty of the natural world. Each year, the award becomes a global platform for photographers to share their perspectives on pressing environmental issues while engaging international audiences in meaningful dialogue on sustainability.
About the Grant
The Environmental Photography Award celebrates photographers who use their craft to raise awareness about environmental protection. Entries are accepted in five categories: Polar Regions, Forests, Ocean, Humanity versus Nature, and Changemakers. The Grand Prize winner will receive €5,000 and an invitation to the Monaco exhibition opening ceremony. Category winners each receive €1,000, while the Public Award and Students’ Choice Award carry €500 each, with unique opportunities such as visiting the Amazon Research Station in Ecuador. Shortlisted works are showcased in the annual Monaco exhibition, featured in an international tour, and published in the award’s annual book, giving photographers global visibility and recognition.
