About Organisation
The India Animal Welfare Funding Circle is a collaborative funding initiative that supports Indian non-profit organisations working to reduce animal suffering. It focuses on improving the welfare of farmed, community, working, and laboratory animals through evidence-based and high-impact interventions. By bringing together aligned donors, the Funding Circle enables shared learning, collective decision-making, and efficient due diligence. Its transparent model ensures that all pooled funds are deployed directly to projects, strengthening the animal welfare ecosystem in India and enabling measurable, long-term improvements in animal well-being.
About the Grant
The India Animal Welfare Funding Circle funds strategic initiatives that create systemic change in animal welfare, particularly for farmed animals. It supports advocacy, policy research, welfare standard improvements, education, capacity building, alternative protein development, and technology-led solutions. The fund aims to mobilise ₹25 crore over three years to significantly reduce animal suffering. Grants may be one-time or multi-year, sized proportionally to organisational capacity, and designed to improve funding efficiency, strengthen the sector, and enable scalable, evidence-driven impact across India.
Who can Apply?
Applications are open to Indian non-profit organisations registered with valid 80G and 12A certifications. Organisations at any stage of growth, including early-stage groups without a completed pilot or proof of concept, are eligible. Projects must focus on farmed animals, community animals, working animals, or animals used in laboratories, and must be implemented within India. Wildlife-focused projects are excluded, while companion animal projects may be supported in limited cases. Administrative expenses linked to project outcomes may be considered for funding.
How to Apply?
Eligible organisations must submit an application by the deadline, including an executive summary, theory of change, detailed budget, organisational background, and required registration documents. Proposals should clearly outline project goals, activities, expected outcomes, and alignment with animal welfare priorities. Applications are reviewed through a shared due diligence process, designed to be efficient and proportionate to the scale and urgency of the proposed work.
Application Deadline
Applications for the India Animal Welfare Funding Circle (January 2026 round) must be submitted by 15 January 2026 for consideration in this funding cycle.
